Local government is where climate action happens...but we need the support of higher levels of government.

Climate Caucus acts as a unified voice for locally elected officials to advocate to higher levels of government. Our advocacy from 2021 is listed below, and we look forward to building off this as we move forward.

In British Columbia we:
  • Initiated our Help Cities Lead Campaign to reduce buildings emissions
  • Strong climate resolutions at the annual Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) conference
  • Advocating for support to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at the local government level
  • Active support for regional climate work with Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (VICC)

In Ontario we have lobbied the province on:
  • Natural Gas and Ontario
  • Energy Decisions
  • Green Development Standard
  • Conservation Authority Act
